The Barbera is our new Italian varietal. If you’re a fan of Nebbiolo or Chianti, Barbera is a classic Italian alternative to sample. Barbera is juicy and fruity, with notes of cherry, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry, with just hints of the baking spice. Barbera is high acid and low tannin, making it an approachable red wine that goes well with food.
Palate - The palate is soft, silky and juicy, and with wonderful concentration of flavour making for a very smooth, rich red wine style.
Food match - With good natural acids and soft tannins, Barbera is perfect for the wide range of Mediterranean-style foods that are rich or high in fat. It’s an absolute crowd-pleaser served with dishes like pizza, mushroom and thyme pasta, spaghetti Bolognese, sausage, broccoli and walnut pesto pasta, antipasto selections and slow cooked tomato ragu with rigatoni.
Cellaring potential - this wine will keep and continue to develop over the next 5-10 years
